A Global Food Manufacturer Arab American Heritage Month Gifting
How a global food manufacturer brought Arab American Heritage Month to every US site.
3,177 snacks. 23 locations. One month.
By Wai Yan Htun, Founder, 'preciated
At a glance
- Industry: Food Manufacturing
- US Footprint: 23 locations
- Buyer: Culture & Engagement Team
- Occasion: Arab American Heritage Month
- What we did: Curated snack gifts, packed and shipped to every site
The challenge
The culture team wanted Arab American Heritage Month to reach every employee at every US site. They needed a gift that felt real, worked for the whole office, and arrived everywhere at once.
The outcome
One order. 3,177 items. 23 locations. Every employee opened the same box, filled with flavors from across the Arab world.
By the numbers
- 3,177 items delivered
- 23 US locations from a single order
- 1 point of contact, start to finish
- Every employee included
What made it work
Real flavors, not tokens. The box was built around snacks people from the region grow up with. Not one themed item dropped into a generic box.
One order, every site. One quote, one invoice, one timeline. The culture team didn't have to coordinate 23 separate shipments.
The full story
A gift that had to mean something
Heritage months are easy to mark and hard to mark well. A newsletter feature takes ten minutes to write. Most people scroll right past it.
The culture team wanted something different. They wanted people to taste it. They wanted Arab American employees to open a box and recognize something from home. And they wanted the colleague at the next desk to open the same box and get curious.
They started where most buyers start. They searched online. That's how they found us.
Why the usual options fell short
The big gifting platforms are built for volume. Their catalogs look the same every season: kettle chips, granola bars, a popcorn tin. Nothing wrong with any of it. But none of it says Arab American Heritage Month.
Snacks from the Arab world are a different problem. They're hard to find in the US and harder to buy in quantity. Most vendors simply don't carry them.
That's the gap we built 'preciated to fill.
"A heritage month gift should taste like the heritage. Otherwise it's just a snack with a theme." (Wai Yan Htun, Founder)
Building the box
We source from countries around the world, so we had real options. We built a lineup people from the region would recognize on sight, plus a few items that would be new to almost everyone else.
The final lineup came from four Arab countries: Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.
To drink
- Yemonade (Yemen). Traditional Yemeni-style lemonade with a bright citrus twist.
- Mira Fruit Cocktail Nectar (Egypt). A smooth tropical fruit nectar for a sweet break in the workday.
- KINZA Cola (Saudi Arabia). Classic cola with regional character.
- MIXA 4G Energy Drink (Saudi Arabia). Guarana, ginger, grape, and grapefruit for the afternoon slump.
To snack on
- Master Potato Frites (Lebanon) in three flavors: Sweet Ketchup, Sour Cream & Herbs, and classic Salt. A favorite across the Levant.
- Master Chips Hot Chili (Lebanon). Smaller bag, bold heat.
Familiar to some. New to most. That was the point.
We also made sure the box worked for everyone in the building. Nobody had to quietly skip the gift. The whole office could open the same box at the same time.
Getting it to 23 doors
A great box means nothing if it shows up late at half the sites.
My team packed every box ourselves and shipped to all 23 locations on one timeline. The culture team had one person to call: me. No ticket queue. No handoffs.
The first call was on March 2. Everything shipped on April 3. One month from hello to delivered.
What happened
Boxes landed at all 23 sites during the month. 3,177 items went out. Every employee at every location got the same experience, whether they were celebrating their own heritage or discovering someone else's.
For the culture team, one order covered the whole country.
Then the feedback came in.
"Overall, the snacks are a big hit. People are enjoying them, and some of our employees who are of Arab descent are really happy. We even had a gentleman in [one of our offices] come on snack day dressed in traditional Moroccan attire!"
(US Culture, Inclusion & Engagement Manager, global food manufacturer)
That's the moment I remember most. One employee showed up in traditional dress because a gift made his heritage part of the workday.
What I took away
Specific beats generic. People can tell when a gift was picked for the occasion and when it was picked from a catalog.
Inclusive by default is easier. When every item works for everyone, the buyer stops worrying about who might be left out.
Simple is fast. One order, one contact, one timeline. That's what gets a gift to 23 doors on time.
